When a leak develops, you will notice a constant drip or water running out of the faucet and pooling on the countertop. All you need to do when this happens is replace the cartridge in the handle.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED FOR THIS REPAIR:

  • 3/32 Allen Wrench
  • Adjustable/Crescent Wrench

First verify that your faucet is a Phoenix Faucet by locating the P symbol at the back of the faucet:

Turn off the water supply to the faucet. Then pop the red/blue button off the front of the handle area:

Inside the hole is a set screw. Use a 3/32 allen wrench to loosen the screw. Do not remove, just loosen and remove the handle.

Then unscrew the first nut, taking care not to damage the finish. If a wrench is needed, please use a cloth between the wrench and nut to protect the finish.

Note: When reassembling, this nut can be hand tightened.

Next, remove the brass retaining ring. This nut holds the cartridge in. Using an adjustable/crescent wrench, loosen the nut. Make sure the wrench is placed on the two flat sides of the nut to protect the threads.

Pull cartridge out and replace with a new cartridge. Premium single handle kitchen faucets use PF2787042 and Premium single handle lavatory faucets use PF287043. Shown below:

Insert the new cartridge, making sure the 2 notches go into the correct holes inside the faucet. Below shows the two notches on the bottom of the cartridge.

Reassemble the faucet in reverse order. Turn water on and check for leaks.
